GKN Driveline maintains a number of world-class research and product development centres in strategic locations around the globe. Staffed by teams of engineers, designers, and automotive production experts, these centres work in partnership with leading vehicle manufacturers to solve specific engineering challenges. They also carry out ongoing research programmes designed to keep GKN Driveline constantly at the forefront of automotive technology development.

Every solution GKN Driveline's Research & Product Development teams produce also has practicality built in. Every new part is designed for ease of manufacture, as well as performance and durability in use. Every new design GKN Driveline produces also takes full account of the latest developments in materials and technology too.

GKN Driveline’s Research and Product Development resources include test rigs and proving grounds, where the performance of individual systems can be validated under the most demanding in-service conditions.

Our facilities include:

• A complete vehicle proving ground at Oyama in Japan.
• Test rigs at Lohmar, Germany; Tochigi, Japan; Bruneck, Italy and Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA.
• Rented winter test tracks in Michigan, USA and Arjeplog, Sweden.
