Interconnecting Shafts
Barshaft
Barshafts (top) are solid shafts that offer a good combination of performance and costs. For many applications dynamic dampers are used to tune the NVH performance of the sideshaft to the required level.
Tubular Shaft
Tubular shafts are hollow shafts that allow the natural bending frequency and the torsional stiffness to be tuned to customer requirements. For most tubular shaft applications a damper is not required.
The following variants are available:
Welded tubular shafts (WTS - middle) are shafts where the main hollow middle portion is welded to the solid splined shaft ends. They combine good NVH performance with high strength.
Monobloc Tubular Shafts (MTS - bottom) are tubular shafts made from one piece of tube. They have the highest tuning potential for natural bending frequency and torsional stiffness at the lowest weight.
