Other Components
Direct Torque Flow (DTF) Connection

The DTF joint offers a direct connection to the gearbox or the differential without a flange with torque transmitted from the CVJ inner race to the output shaft.
By eliminating components the system weight is reduced, the bending frequency is increased and outer diameter of the joint is smaller. The imbalance is improved and the assembly time to the vehicle is reduced. This configuration can be applied to all joint types
Rubber Coupling

A rubber coupling is suitable when very low running angles (<1°) are required and a level of torsional compliance is required in the driveline system
Tubular Shafts

The standard tubular shaft consists of a tube and the connecting components, normally a stubshaft, tube yoke and/or a three arm flange. Metallic tubular shafts are welded.
Within GKN Driveline we have five different series welding processes: Friction welding (top), laser welding, plasma welding (middle), Mac Arc welding (bottom) and Mig welding (not shown).
Steel, aluminium and composite tubes are available.
Sealing Systems

All CV joints require a sealing system to keep the lubricant in the joint and keep contaminants out of the lubricant. Sealing system design is dependant upon joint running angle, environment temperature and need for any static and/or dynamic plunge.
Crash Optimised Shaft

The crash optimised shaft, an innovation in vehicle safety engineering, embodies predictable progressive fracture behaviour on impact, reducing risk of injury and damage to critical vehicle safety features.
Crash optimisation can be accomplished by designing the propshaft to meet the specific requirements of the customer's application. GKN Driveline is able to offer an unrivalled range of crash features that can meet all requirements from low load/low energy absorption to high load/high energy absorption and anything in between. We have available a number of products and techniques which can be employed. These include crash-optimised CV joints, collapsing tubes, locked splines and telescoping tubes. All of these products are designed to create a more safe and comfortable driving experience. For all of these, we have also developed robust and stable sealing systems to ensure that the joints remain uncontaminated throughout their service life.
