Commitment to the Community

Everyone knows that the future is not made out of only technology. It is also made out of a more just society. This belief has encouraged GKN Driveline to develop projects in social, cultural, environment awareness and educational areas.

This page describes just some of the community projects that GKN Driveline has been involved with.

Construction of the Santo Antonio Children’s Hospital

GKN Driveline joined the building project of the New Santo Antonio Children’s Hospital, which belongs to Santa Casa de Misericórdia (Mercy Hospital). The Santo Antonio Hospital has an excellent infrastructure and the capacity to treat 45,000 children each month.

Restoration of the Santo Antonio Chapel

GKN Driveline, in partnership with UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul), restored the Santo Antonio Chapel with a historical background of 90 years.

"Renascer" Project

This social project, together with schools and the community, offers opportunities of personal, intellectual, and professional development to teenagers from low income families. It isn't just a simple assistance project, but a belief in the future by developing teenagers as people and professionals for the job market and for life.

Theatrical Group

This cultural project interacts with the community by making it aware of the different themes such as AIDS, drugs, work accident prevention, and others. The group is made up of company employees.

Choir

A cultural project that makes it possible to express art and culture by way of music, integrating the company with the community.

SENAI School

The SENAI unit, operating inside GKN Driveline is an educational project that has already trained 260 professionals in the area of General Mechanics. The school trains and educates young people by developing their technical and human potential and integrates them into the labour force.

Donation of Wood to the "Centro Vita"

Wood from pallets that before was destroyed are today transformed into homes, furniture, and an income that helps maintain the institution. This project is a social exercise of citizenship and ecological awareness.

Remodeling of Nossa Senhora das Dores Church

GKN Driveline helped with the remodeling of the infrastructure of Nossa Senhora das Dores Church. It is the oldest church in Porto Alegre.
